Project Manager – Construction (NYC)
A well‑established, national design‑build engineering and energy services firm is seeking a Construction Project Manager to support projects across the New York City metro area. This role sits within a growing operations team and offers exposure to complex projects in public, institutional, and commercial facilities.
The ideal candidate will bring 3–8 years of construction management experience
, with strong field knowledge and the ability to lead projects from pre‑construction through close‑out.
The Construction Project Manager is responsible for overseeing all facets of construction projects, including coordination with contractors, consultants, and owners. This role requires hands‑on knowledge of construction means and methods, strong communication skills, and the ability to proactively manage schedule, budget, quality, and safety.
Key Qualifications- 3–8 years of professional experience in construction or construction management
- Strong understanding of construction processes; exposure to design and commissioning is a plus
- Working knowledge of MEP systems, including HVAC, boilers, and chillers, within commercial, institutional, or public sector facilities
- Proven ability to identify and mitigate schedule, budget, and quality risks
- Experience managing subcontractors and applying effective management techniques to drive performance
- Solid understanding of industry practices, policies, and standards
- Demonstrated commitment to jobsite safety for all stakeholders
- Ability to manage high‑needs, multi‑stakeholder clients and maintain strong working relationships
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage documentation and multiple priorities simultaneously
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to communicate confidently with contractors and owners
- PMP certification (or interest in pursuing certification) is a plus
- Ability to travel to assigned construction sites as required
- Provide cost and constructability input during the design phase
- Coordinate the bid process, including pre‑bid walkthroughs
- Manage RFIs and the submittal process with prime contractors using platforms such as Procore, e‑Builder, Contract Manager, and Submittal Exchange
- Schedule, supervise, and coordinate contractor and subcontractor activities
- Lead construction meetings and prepare formal meeting minutes
- Establish and maintain a strong culture of safety and ensure compliance with project safety plans
- Monitor construction progress to ensure projects remain on schedule
- Prepare and distribute monthly progress reports to stakeholders
- Manage CPM schedules, look‑ahead schedules, and recovery plans when delays arise
- Ensure construction work complies with contract documents, drawings, and quality standards
- Compile and manage detailed change order packages and logs
- Provide guidance and mentorship to project staff
- OSHA Site Safety Training (SST‑62) required
This is a Permanent position based out of Queens, NY.
