ProjectManager, Construction - Responsibilities
The Project Manager, Construction supervises construction projects from beginning to end, ensuring that projects are completed within time and budgetary constraints. Day‑to‑day responsibilities include effective coordination between the construction and design teams, oversight of the construction management team and on‑site building trades; implementation of appropriate controls in time, cost, and quality of various construction projects (residential, commercial, and industrial buildings); preparation of project status reports;
determination and obtainment of required permits; and prudent allocation of funds in accordance with the budget.
The Project Manager communicates directly with contractors and designers regarding project costs, staffing, scheduling, and overall quality control on job sites. This position negotiates with vendors and suppliers to obtain the best price and delivery schedules; selects subcontractors and negotiates their contract terms; and ensures effective project coordination among engineers, architects, vendors, etc.
Summary of RequirementsIdeal candidates hold a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or a related field from an accredited college or university; an industrial and/or acoustical minor will also be considered. Candidates should have a minimum of ten (10) to fifteen (15) years of experience in a direct project‑manager or installation position; comprehensive knowledge of construction workflow, processes, and practices; and a proven track record in the timely delivery of construction projects within budget.
This position requires resourcefulness, effective critical thinking, judgment, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills within a fast‑paced environment. Effective communication, negotiation, mediation, organizational, and time‑management skills are a must. MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) experience is required.
