Project Manager — Heavy Civil Construction (NYC Infrastructure Projects)

Join a well-established heavy civil contractor delivering major public infrastructure projects across the Greater New York City area, including sewer, water main, roadway, and site development work for agencies such as city and state transportation and public works departments. This is a highly visible role with significant project ownership and leadership responsibility.

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead large-scale heavy civil projects from pre-construction through closeout. You will oversee project planning, financial performance, scheduling, subcontractor coordination, and field execution while partnering closely with superintendents, engineers, and agency stakeholders. The role also involves maintaining strong client relationships, supporting safety initiatives, and ensuring work meets contract, quality, and regulatory standards.

You’ll manage budgets, forecasts, procurement, documentation, and change management while guiding project teams and helping drive productivity in the field. Success in this position comes from balancing leadership, technical understanding, and business acumen to keep projects on schedule and profitable.

Qualifications
  • 15+ years of heavy civil general contracting experience
  • Experience on large public infrastructure projects (e.g., DOT/DDC-type work)
  • Proven leadership managing teams and subcontractors; prior oversight of projects $75M+ preferred
  • Knowledge of utilities, sewer, stormwater, and watermain construction
  • Strong financial forecasting, scheduling, and cost-control skills
  • Familiarity with contracts, drawings, specifications, and construction methods
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
  • OSHA 30 and valid driver’s license

This opportunity offers the chance to lead complex, high-profile infrastructure work while collaborating with experienced professionals and public-sector clients on projects that shape the region’s communities.
