Overview
Tectonic Engineering Consultants, Geologists & Land Surveyors, D.P.C. is seeking a full‑time Chief Inspector for projects in the Hudson Valley and Catskills (Rockland, Westchester, Dutchess, Putnam, Orange, Ulster, Columbia, Sullivan, Delaware). Responsibilities- Supervise, coordinate, and track the progress of construction projects.
- Assist and advise inspectors on project management, construction, and inspection issues.
- Alert supervisors of major or recurring discrepancies.
- Prepare construction documents and records.
- Ensure compliance with budget standards and contract documents.
- Conduct inspections and provide assurance that projects meet all contractual requirements.
- Remain in a stationary position as needed.
- Handle, inspect, and/or feel documents, materials, and equipment.
- Communicate via company email and telephone systems.
- Move around job sites, including ascending or descending on ladders or the terrain.
- Lift and/or move up to 50 lbs for inspections.
- Maintain good visual skills and depth perception.
- Operate a motor vehicle daily for site travel.
- Minimum 6 years experience in civil, highway, or a related engineering field, including 1 year in a supervisory capacity.
- Must possess and maintain one of the following licenses/certifications:
- Valid NICET IV Certification in Transportation/Highway Construction
- Valid NY Professional Engineering license
- Other suitable combinations of education, training, or experience will be considered
- NYSDOT or equivalent public agency or DOT experience is required.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to prepare correspondence, reports, and recommendations concerning construction issues and maintain project records.
- Must obtain OSHA Safety Certifications as required.
- Detail‑oriented understanding of inspection codes and requirements.
- Valid, clean driver’s license and personal vehicle for daily site travel.

Hourly: $40.00 – $75.00
