Mechanical Estimator – Construction Services
Join GFT in New York, NY as a full‑time mechanical estimator. This role focuses on school projects and involves preparing accurate cost estimates for all design and construction phases.
What You’ll Do- Meet clients to determine needs, objectives, and timelines; gather estimating inputs.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for all phases of design and construction.
- Supervise development of quantity surveys and cost evaluations for design documents, contract drawings, specifications, and contract changes.
- Develop customized estimating strategies and deliverables that fit within the client’s budget.
- Lead estimating efforts, support decision‑making throughout design and construction.
- Use costing databases and historical data to price estimates; employ escalation strategies.
- Participate in cost negotiations and ensure pricing adequacy.
- Identify key designer, supplier, and trade contractor resources to ensure accurate scopes and pricing.
- Assess financial risk, develop preventative measures, and prepare general and indirect costs.
- Associate degree in engineering, architecture, construction, or related field from an accredited institution.
- Five (5) years of experience estimating mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing & drainage, piping, ductwork).
- Experience with new construction, rehabilitation, and addition projects.
- Strong analytical, communication, and collaboration skills.
The salary range for this role is $110,000 - $120,000, dependent on experience and geographic location.
