JOB TITLE: Community Development Intern
DEPARTMENT: Community
REPORTING TO: Coordinator, Community Engagement
LOCATION: New York, NY
COMPENSATION: $17/hour, 30 hours per week
DURATION: Season‑long internship from February to the end of the 2026 MLS season (mid‑February to November 2026)

Position Overview

POSITION OVERVIEW: The Community Development Intern is responsible for supporting the team with the execution of short‑term projects and daily activities. Areas of concentration include, but are not limited to, event planning, monitoring and evaluation, resource generation, presentations, and research. This internship offers a great opportunity to enhance your knowledge of the nonprofit and social responsibility sectors, and youth programs aimed at promoting healthy living, STEM, and leadership development.

What

You’ll Do
  • Support planning and coordination of community events, including soccer festivals, fundraising events, and employee volunteering;
  • Monitor and evaluate all community programs, delivering pre‑ and post‑surveys, analyzing data, and presenting reports;
  • Assist with employee volunteering events by recruiting volunteers, orienting on the day, and conducting post‑surveys;
  • Develop articles for the Monthly Employee Volunteer Newsletter;
  • Support bi‑weekly community meetings and circulate meeting notes afterward;
  • Manage donation requests and auction platform, including collecting memorabilia, promoting offers, and fulfilling orders;
  • Assist in developing a donor database for City in the Community Foundation;
  • Assist with pre‑match and match‑day duties at Yankee Stadium and Citi Field;
  • Assist with program and young leader training presentations;
  • Assist with mailings, filing, and special projects as needed;
  • Conduct research on new initiatives, grant sources, potential donors, strategic partners, and sponsors;
  • Perform other duties as required.
What You’ll Bring
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office;
  • Analytical mindset with excellent problem‑solving abilities;
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and prioritize tasks while handling multiple projects simultaneously;
  • Excellent communication and problem‑resolution skills;
  • Capability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Superior customer service skills;
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail;
  • Flexibility to work match days and Saturday evenings.

  • Compliance with MLS Next Safety and Well‑Being policy and any other applicable child safety policies provided by NYCFC;
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as necessary.
