L+M has a strong track record of developing affordable housing at the vanguard of energy efficient design and operation. As the Sustainability Intern, you will work directly with the Sustainability Project Manager and Senior Director of Sustainability on the operationalization of our energy and sustainability data to support ESG reporting activities; portfolio analysis; initiative development within different business lines; and other activities related to sustainability in specific development and retrofit projects.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support the collection of building typology and energy consumption data using Energy Star Portfolio Manager, energy audit reports, and local and federal databases.
- Conduct site visits at L+M properties as needed to collect details about building equipment, such as generators and solar panel installations, to facilitate participation in demand response activities and ongoing O&M.
- Integrate and organize data to support the onboarding of an energy data platform.
- Perform data quality checks to ensure site energy data is flowing to the correct end locations for further analysis.
- Analyze and investigate site data to ensure accuracy. Communicate with property management teams as necessary to gather additional information.
- Create and maintain internal documentation of team processes and activities.

- Proven track record of self-managing projects
- Experience navigating public transit in New York City.
- Strong interest or experience with data analysis.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Self-starter who has a track record of being able to manage tasks independently.
- Preferred, but not required, academic background or career experience in one or more of the following topics: built environment, sustainability, renewables.
