ICR, a leading strategic communications firm, seeks a highly motivated, team oriented and intellectually curious Associate or Sr Associate to join its Crisis & Special Situations team in New York, NY or Norwalk, CT. This role involves supporting a diverse range of high-profile clients and provides exceptional career development opportunities for self-driven individuals.

The Associate or Sr Associate will work closely with and firm’s senior executives to service existing clients, participate in projects, and grow the practice group. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, client and industry research and reporting, drafting communication materials, engaging with the media, and assisting with new business development.

The ideal candidate must have a strong desire to learn about Crisis & Special Situations events – M&A Communications; activist defense campaigns and proxy contests; executive transition support; short attack defense; data breach communications; and the full range of corporate and other crises, including helping developing crisis response plans.

The Associate or Sr Associate is expected to have strong writing skills, intellectually curious, comfortable working with PowerPoint presentations and a relentless desire to deliver outstanding results are key. They are also expected to have a familiarity with content development and be comfortable working in a fast‑paced and high‑pressure environment.

Previous experience in media relations, crisis communications, and financial communications is desired, but not required, to be considered for the Associate position.

• General account and project support
• Drafting, reviewing & editing communications materials
• Editing effective PowerPoint presentations for C‑Suite
• Monitoring media coverage and producing media coverage reports
• Conducting company research/supporting new business efforts
• Maintain an understanding of clients’ businesses, industries and issues that directly and indirectly affect those clients
• Work across several accounts with a positive and proactive attitude

• 1+ years successful track record with large consulting firm, investment bank or related work/internship experience
• Experience and interest in Public Relations, Communications, Investor Relations, Shareholder Activism, Corporate Governance and ESG
• General corporate finance knowledge
• Strong writing ability
• Good client/people skills and leadership presence
• Critical and structured thinker with superior analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Strong work ethic and team mentality
• Comfortable in a fast‑paced work environment with ability to handle multiple assignments
• Results oriented with the ability to make decisions in a changing environment and anticipate future needs
• Strong project management skills with the ability to meet deadlines without sacrificing quality
• Fluency in Microsoft Office products and data analytics
• Social media savvy is a plus

Associate Salary Range - $70,000 - $75,000

Sr Associate Salary Range - $75,000 - $85,000
