Job Description & How to Apply Below
Location: New York

Our financial services client is a leader in the industry and about to embark on a set of high priority fintech and payments initiatives designed to expand their platform capabilities, unlock new revenue pools, and strengthen our competitive position in an increasingly digitized financial ecosystem. The opportunity is significant. These initiatives sit at the center of the firm’s growth agenda and will influence how they compete in fintech-enabled financial services.

The role offers meaningful executive visibility, direct impact on revenue and margin expansion, and the ability to shape a scalable platform strategy in a rapidly evolving payments landscape.

A strong candidate will be a senior strategy leader with strong strategic consulting experience and deep commercial acumen to define and drive the end-to-end market strategy for these efforts.

This role is structured as an internal strategy mandate with direct line of sight to revenue growth, platform economics, and enterprise value creation. The leader will develop the strategic narrative and commercial blueprint required to compete effectively across payments, embedded finance, and platform-based financial solutions. Regular engagement with executive leadership is expected, along with the ability to operate at board-level altitude while maintaining operational rigor.

The mandate begins with building a clear investment thesis: identifying attractive market adjacencies, defining priority customer segments (including enterprise, mid-market, fintech, and ecosystem players), and assessing value pools across the payments and financial infrastructure landscape. The role requires rigorous market sizing, competitive landscape analysis, and differentiation strategy informed by platform dynamics, regulatory considerations, and evolving customer expectations.

A critical component of the role is designing the monetization and pricing architecture. This includes evaluating transaction-based, subscription, interchange-driven, and usage-based models; optimizing take rates and margin structure; and defining packaging strategies that align with platform scalability. Close partnership with Finance will ensure robust business cases, scenario modeling, and capital allocation recommendations grounded in clear ROI and enterprise impact.

The leader will also architect the integrated go-to‑market strategy, aligning product, sales, partnerships, and marketing around a coherent commercialization plan.

This includes defining market entry sequencing, channel strategy (direct, embedded, partner‑led), and enablement models to support complex, solution‑oriented selling. The objective is to ensure disciplined execution from initial launch through scaled adoption.

Platform launch strategy will require coordinated orchestration across technology, operations, risk, compliance, and commercial teams. The role will define launch milestones, performance KPIs (adoption, transaction volume, revenue yield, client retention), and ensure alignment between product delivery and revenue realization. Executive alignment on timing, positioning, and market communications will be central to success.

Given the ecosystem-driven nature of fintech and payments, the role also includes shaping partnership strategy — identifying strategic technology partners, data providers, fintech collaborators, and distribution channels that accelerate time-to-market and extend reach. The leader will evaluate build, buy, or partner pathways and support strategic negotiations that enhance scale and defensibility.

This position requires a strategy consulting mindset: hypothesis-driven problem solving, structured analysis, clear articulation of trade-offs, and executive-ready recommendations with quantified financial implications. The individual must be equally comfortable discussing platform economics, competitive dynamics, and regulatory considerations as they are influencing senior stakeholders.

Compensation

$350 - $400K is the total compensation for the position.
