Overview

Job Summary:

The Director, Product Management will be responsible for overseeing the development, management, and optimization of our multiline products across small, middle, and niche business. This role will focus on coverage maintenance and development, product modernization, appetite expansion and enablement, and shaping the broader product and multiline growth strategy. This role requires a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of commercial insurance products, market and competitor trends, and customer needs.

The ideal candidate will drive product innovation, ensure competitive positioning, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to manage existing and deliver new products to achieve business objectives. This role will work with all aspects of the commercial lines value chain – including Filings, Compliance, Legal, IT, Product Management, Field Underwriting, Actuarial, Marketing, and others – to manage, develop, and deploy coverages and capabilities.

Responsibilities
  • Product Strategy and Development:
  • Develop and implement the strategic vision for the assigned product lines.
  • Conduct market research to identify trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape.
  • Lead the design and development of new products and enhancements to existing offerings.
  • Ensure products meet regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Focus on forms and coverage management to ensure comprehensive and competitive offerings.
  • Drive new coverage development to address emerging risks and market demands.
  • Serve as a SME for product requirements.
  • Identify and execute roadmaps for both product and coverage expansion and to proactively protect the firm from undesirable exposures.
  • Product Management:
  • Oversee the lifecycle management of products (rates, rules, forms), from inception to launch and ongoing optimization.
  • Partner with Compliance and Filing to file and gain approval for new products and product changes and shepherd through deployment with IT.
  • Monitor product performance and profitability, making data‑driven decisions to improve outcomes.
  • Collaborate with underwriting, actuarial, claims, and marketing teams to ensure cohesive product strategies.
  • Develop strategic capabilities to materially grow the portfolio and expand market share.
  • Effectively detail and connect all aspects of the product model across the product ecosystem.
  • Customer Focus:
  • Serves as coverage and product expert with deep consultations with field underwriting, claims, and legal.
  • Own strategic initiatives aimed to enhance customer experience and enable large‑scale business growth.
  • Partner with marketing to externalize product capabilities.
  • Engage with customers and brokers to gather feedback and insights.
  • Develop customer‑centric solutions that address the unique needs of small and medium‑sized businesses.
  • Ensure exceptional customer experience through product design and service delivery.

  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to align product and coverage strategies with overall business goals.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Insurance, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in product management within the insurance industry, with a focus on commercial lines.
  • Proven track record of successful product development and management.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards for commercial insurance products.

The expected salary range for this role is $118,300-$182,000/year.
