At Sony Music’s direct‑to‑consumer (D2C) business unit, we are building the future of artist‑to‑fan commerce. The Business Development role serves as the strategic and operational nerve center of Sony Music’s D2C business. This leader partners closely with the COO and D2C leadership to drive strategic planning, cross‑functional execution, special initiatives, and innovation—ensuring alignment, momentum, and clarity as the global D2C platform scales.
What you’ll do:- Act as business support to the EVP D2C, driving leadership cadence, decision tracking, and execution follow‑through.
- Lead strategic planning initiatives including multi‑year roadmaps, org evolution, and investment prioritization.
- Own cross‑functional special projects spanning strategy, operations, partnerships, and innovation pilots.
- Support business development efforts, including evaluation of new capabilities, platforms, partnerships, and emerging D2C opportunities.
- Develop executive‑level materials for Steer Co, budget reviews, and senior leadership forums.
- Serve as a connective layer across Commercial Strategy, Tech, Supply Chain, and Operations to unblock execution.
- Identify and translate emerging trends in fandom, commerce, and technology into actionable pilots or proposals.
- 8–12+ years of experience in strategy, consulting, business operations, or high‑growth D2C environments.
- Exceptional structuring, analytical, and communication skills; comfortable working with senior executives.
- Strong commercial and operational acumen with the ability to move between strategy and execution.
- Highly organized, proactive, and comfortable operating in ambiguity.
- Curious, innovative, and impact‑oriented, with a strong bias toward action.

New York Pay Range
$190,000 - $210,000 USD
