O’Melveny has an immediate opening for a Pricing Manager in our New York office. The Pricing Manager is responsible for analyzing the economics of both traditional and alternative pricing arrangements, helping to create matter budgets, facilitating the approval of non‑standard fee arrangements and working with attorneys and the Client Development team to develop pricing and financial responses to client RFPs.
The salary range in NYC for this role is $150,000 - $180,000 and represents the firm’s good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and location.
Responsibilities- Analyze the profitability of both traditional hourly and alternative fee arrangements.
- Partner with attorneys to create matter budgets, including the modeling of representative matters.
- Facilitate and streamline the approval of alternative fee arrangements, matter budgets and rate discounts, including and as part of the new business intake process.
- Work closely with attorneys in the development of pricing and fee arrangements for client proposals.
- Partner with attorneys and Client Development on pricing narratives, value messaging, and negotiation strategy; respond to pricing sections of RFPs and panel submissions.
- Work with Practice Management to educate partners on matter management with a goal of improved profitability.
- Drive, oversee, and optimize the annual rate setting process; perform ad hoc projects and data‑driven analysis as directed.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Have a minimum of five years of financial analysis and/or price modeling experience in the professional services industry. Legal industry experience is preferred.
- Hold a bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business, Economics, Finance, or Accounting; MBA preferred.
- Possess excellent analytic and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to think on his/her feet in a fast‑paced environment, anticipate requirements, and consistently deliver exceptional customer service.
- Have excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with Partners, Practice Management, Finance and Client Development.
- Be organized, able to multi‑task, manage time well, and work independently.
- Exhibit superior attention to detail and pride in high quality deliverables.
- Have strong technology skills especially with Microsoft Excel, but including PowerPoint, Word and Outlook. Elite/3E experience is beneficial.
