Location: Sanborn

The Business Development Associate drives revenue growth for the agency by identifying, cultivating, and securing new business and community partnerships. This role focuses on expanding United Way of Greater Niagara’s financial support base while strengthening the organizations visibility and engagement across Niagara County and the City of Tonawanda.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Identify and pursue high-value prospects through networking, outreach, and other qualified channels to drive revenue growth and convert new opportunities into accounts and expanded territories.
  • Manage a portfolio of existing campaign accounts and collaborate with the Campaign Coordinator to develop annual strategies for growth and diversification.
  • Pursue new funding opportunities—including grants, sponsor ships, scanning programs, and other non-traditional revenue sources beyond standard campaigns.
  • Serve as UWGN’s representative to local service organizations and community groups, participating in relevant committees and clubs, and attending community events and conferences as assigned by the President.
  • Identify and advance strategic engagement opportunities.
  • Lead the planning, solicitation efforts, and execution of UWGN’s Day(s) of Caring, supported by volunteers, interns, and staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications/Requirements
    • Bachelor’s degree in sales, communications, marketing, business administration, or a related field.
    • Preferred experience in revenue-generating roles such as sales, business development, fundraising, or account management.
    • Strong relationship-building skills
      , with the ability to establish and maintain effective partnerships with business and community leaders.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
      , including persuasive writing and confident public speaking across diverse stakeholder groups.
    • Ability to work collaboratively and independently in a role that requires consistent, proactive outreach, strong initiative, and sound judgment within a fast-paced, goal-driven environment.
    • Highly organized and detail-oriented
      , with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and perform well under pressure.
    • Strategic thinker with the ability to interpret information, apply common-sense reasoning, and execute clear written or verbal instructions.
    • Comfort with metrics, goals, and performance tracking to monitor progress and adjust strategies as needed.
    • Ability to work confidently with common office software and a variety of digital platforms to support outreach, communication, and revenue‑tracking activities.
    • Preferred knowledge of Niagara County and the City of Tonawanda or a willingness to quickly build local familiarity.
    • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for regular travel to businesses and community sites.
    • Flexibility and willingness to support agency needs.
