The primary role of the Business Specialist is to perform sales and service functions for business customers, including new accounts, loan applications, cash management, merchant services referrals, and all other business related products. The Specialist serves as a resource and mentor to the branch team in business customer assistance and product presentation, ensuring a world-class customer service experience. Responsibilities include conducting thorough financial needs assessments, recommending appropriate solutions, and developing a portfolio of “Premier” client relationships, alongside overall business sales.
The role supports branch activities during normal hours, especially in the manager’s absence, and has approval authority to complete assigned functions.
- Achieve scorecard goals: checking unit, balance, credit application, referral, cross-sell.
- Proactively source, acquire, retain, and deepen business customer relationships to maximize sales and lending opportunities.
- Recommend appropriate solutions and refer to Business Development Officer as needed.
- Partner with BDO to facilitate deposit acquisition and credit applications.
- Use consultative selling to understand client needs, identify credit opportunities, and refer to Investment partners. Offer Premier checking to high net worth clients.
- Ensure positive customer experience for all sales and service interactions.
- Participate in sales meetings, share best practices, and provide feedback to management.
- Maintain a business pipeline and participate in scheduled production reviews.
- Ensure compliance with all regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Perform operational responsibilities as required by the branch manager.
- Provide consistent and optimal customer service to all business customers, greeting them professionally.
- Communicate clearly on issue resolution and identify cross-sell opportunities; own the customer need until fulfilled.
- Source and provide credit solutions for prospects and clients; follow up on credit referrals.
- Manage a portfolio of Premier Banking clients, focusing on cross-selling and deepening relationships.
- If licensed, recommend investment and insurance solutions to achieve investment sales goals.
- Develop a Center of Influence network by engaging in business networking and community activities.
- Coordinate targeted marketing campaigns, events, and new product launches.
- Support operational integrity of the branch, adhere to all policies, and handle opening/closing duties.
Perform other related functions as required by Manager.
Significant Contacts/InteractionsInternal: Business Development Office, Branch Managers, Branch Teams, Business Banking Professionals.
External: Customers and Business Prospects, Centers of Influence, Community Leaders, Business Contacts, Authorized Vendors.
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in business (preferred) or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum three years banking experience, preferably in Business Banking.
- Certification in Business Product knowledge and other training as required.
- Fundamental knowledge of accounting and business operations;
Financial Analysis skills a plus. - Microsoft Office competency.
- Investment (Series 6 or
7) and Life & Health insurance licensing strongly suggested.

Hours:
40 per week. This is a non-exempt position eligible for overtime if hours exceed 40.
