Position: Business Development & Marketing Manager (Energy, Transportation & Infrastructure)
Location: New York

The Business Development and Marketing Manager is a senior member of the Marketing Department and serves as the primary business development partner to Energy, Transportation & Infrastructure groups. This role works closely with practice leaders and partners to develop and execute strategic business development and marketing plans that support client growth, cross-selling, and market visibility.

The Manager develops a deep understanding of the Firm’s services, lawyers, and clients, and uses that knowledge to identify growth opportunities, strengthen client relationships, and support new business initiatives. This role may manage junior team members and is expected to lead by example, collaborate across functions, and deliver high-quality service across The Firm’s global platform.

Key Responsibilities:

Practice & Client Development
  • Partner with practice and industry leaders to develop and execute business development and marketing plans
  • Participate in practice group meetings and strategic planning sessions
  • Identify new business and cross-selling opportunities using market research, competitive intelligence, and data analytics
  • Maintain and enhance business development infrastructure, including marketing collateral, experience databases, contact lists, and opportunity tracking
  • Manage practice group business development budgets and evaluate ROI of initiatives
  • Coordinate client and industry research with the Market Intelligence team
  • Support lateral partner integration and onboarding
  • Lead and manage RFPs, pitches, and other new business opportunities
  • Draft and tailor proposals, RFIs, and pitch materials
  • Advise and prepare lawyers for client presentations and pitch meetings
  • Coordinate pitch follow-up, debriefs, and reporting
  • Manage submissions for legal rankings, awards, and league tables
  • Plan and support client programs and firm-sponsored events
  • Collaborate with Communications and PR teams on thought leadership and media opportunities
  • Recommend professional organizations and platforms to increase lawyer and firm visibility
  • Manage, mentor, and develop Business Development and Marketing staff, as applicable
  • Delegate work, oversee deliverables, and provide performance feedback
  • Collaborate with colleagues across practices, regions, and business functions
Qualifications Required
  • 8+ years of experience in marketing, business development, or a related field
  • Bachelor’s degree (marketing, communications, business, or similar preferred)
  • Strong writing, editing, and analytical skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook
Preferred
  • Experience in a law firm or professional services environment
  • Knowledge of legal or industry-specific markets
  • People management or project management experience
  • Advanced degree (MBA or JD preferred)
  • Experience with CRM and experience management systems (e.g., Inter Action, Salesforce)
  • Familiarity with legal rankings, awards, and market research tools
