Buyer , Zappos Merchandising

Zappos is seeking an experienced Buyer to join our Merchandising team. You will be responsible for managing a portfolio of brands through the ordering of new products and analyzing/managing stock levels. You are the business owner for the brands in your category and will engage directly with internal partners to effectively optimize assortments and execute department wide initiatives.

In this role the ideal candidate will be a forward thinker, always anticipating possible future product offerings by conducting thorough research about what customers are looking for next and the fashion trends that are coming up.

• Identify trends by conducting thorough research and a customer mindset.
• Partner with suppliers in order to have a consistent in stock rate of key items at the right time for customer demand
• Understand input levers to drive improved customer experience for assigned category
• Integrate key metrics with broader business metrics to deliver optimal customer experience
• Understand organizational structure and company priorities. Champion ideas across the team and be seen as a resource and expert within areas of responsibility.
• Takes a forward-thinking, holistic, and data driven approach to maximize profitability; over communicates with stakeholders on strategies.
• Understand how to gather and analyze internal and competitor merchandise data with knowledge of ABC categorization and analysis
• Understand the needs and wants of the different consumer demographics, product segmentation, key selling weeks, and seasonal demand.

• Bachelor's degree
• 5+ years in Buying, Planning or other related Merchandising roles.

• Experience using Microsoft Excel to manipulate and analyze large sets of data

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $66,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $141,100/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
