Overview

The Director of Sourcing will lead global sourcing strategy and execution for handbags and fashion accessories, including hair accessories, cold weather items, umbrellas, hats, and related categories. This role is responsible for driving cost efficiencies, supplier performance, quality, and on-time delivery while supporting the company’s growth, margin, and speed-to-market objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own and drive the company’s strategic sourcing objectives for handbags and fashion accessories, translating goals into actionable plans and measurable outcomes.
  • Lead supplier negotiations to secure best-in-class cost, quality, service levels, and delivery terms while building sustainable, long-term vendor partnerships.
  • Oversee end-to-end sourcing operations including development, production, vendor allocation, and logistics in partnership with internal teams.
  • Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers and factories aligned with category needs, price points, and quality standards.
  • Assess supplier core competencies, capacity, compliance, and competitive positioning using industry cost models and benchmarking.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key vendors, driving accountability through clear KPIs, performance reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor industry trends, raw material costs, geopolitical factors, and emerging technologies to proactively manage risk and ensure continuity of supply.
  • Partner with Design, Merchandising, Sales, and Production to support assortment strategies, costing targets, and margin goals across accessory categories.
  • Lead cost analysis, scenario planning, and risk assessments; recommend mitigation strategies to minimize disruption and protect profitability.
  • Contribute to short- and long-term business planning, forecasting, and budget development to support company growth objectives.
  • Oversee demand forecasting and order placement, ensuring alignment with vendor lead times and seasonal calendars.
  • Support licensed product initiatives as needed, including sourcing strategy and execution for licensed accessory programs.
  • Lead and develop the sourcing team, setting priorities, workflows, and performance expectations.
  • Perform additional duties as required to support business needs.
Required Qualifications
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in global sourcing, production, or supply chain management within handbags and fashion accessories (hair accessories, cold weather, hats, umbrellas, or similar categories).
  • Proven leadership experience managing sourcing teams and/or cross-functional partners in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Deep knowledge of overseas manufacturing, with hands-on experience sourcing from Asia (China, Vietnam, Cambodia, India) and/or other global regions.
  • Strong understanding of costing, margin targets, factory negotiations, and MOQ management across multiple accessory categories.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate supplier capabilities, factory compliance, capacity, and quality standards.
  • Experience working with licensed products a plus, including understanding of licensor requirements, approvals, and timelines.
  • Expertise in demand forecasting, production planning, and managing seasonal calendars.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in cost modeling, benchmarking, and scenario analysis.
