OverviewPosition Summary:
Leads and manages Demand Planning function which plans and controls inventory of finished goods for warehouses/distribution centers to meet sales and distribution demand. Establishes processes which ensure Demand plans flow to each Manufacturing sites based upon agreed upon planning calendars. Develops processes to maintain inputs to computerized inventory management system.
ResponsibilitiesKey Accountabilities:
- Aggregate Demand plan into one cohesive plan as an input to the Sales and Operations Planning Process at each Werfen site.
- In conjunction with Executive Management, establish and report on Key metrics: forecast accuracy, inventory levels, service levels.
- Participates in monthly Sales and Operations Planning meeting.
- Develops and maintains process to define long-range forecasts as inputs to annual Strategic planning for Werfen sites.
- Under limited supervision, plans and coordinates inventory replenishment with strategic partners; requisites purchase orders and interplant orders; analyzes inventory levels and inventory positioning to ensure compliance
- Projects and minimizes scrap exposure by identifying issues and proposing solutions
- Coordinates shipments to strategic partners, including drop shipments, replenishment, and lot management.
- Develops and maintains processes to monitors forecast and safety stock levels, and adjusts accordingly. Maintains frequent communications with strategic partners on a variety of subjects, including order information, recalls, and shipping issues.
- Reviews stocking orders with strategic partners for product availability and scheduled ship dates. Allocates shelf life products for shipment to ensure that they satisfy the contract minimum dating requirement. Projects monthly shipments to strategic partners in terms of products, quantities, and dollars. Coordinates shipments with Werfen shipping operations.
- Develops and maintains inputs to computerized inventory management system. Reviews and adjusts forecast information. Communicates with marketing, manufacturing, and distribution to introduce new products into inventory.
- Prepares and distributes numerous weekly/monthly status reports relating to backorders, reagent planning, and similar subjects. Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Key process related stakeholders, Executive Management, Sales, Marketing, Customer Service, Distribution, Finance, Logistics and Plant Operations.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Able to work well with diverse groups of people
- Courtesy and tact to ensure effective and efficient solutions.
- Ten to fifteen years of experience inventory management practices and procedures, material planning, and distribution systems; certification from Association For Supply Chain Management (ASCM).
- Familiar with Demand Planning and the Sales and Operations Planning Process in a mixed distribution and direct to customer model.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Industrial Engineering or Economics, or equivalent experience.
