Position SummaryThe Business Development team supports the firm across new‑business and client‑relationship‑building activities, from proposal creation to marketing materials, database maintenance, market intelligence, and client events. The Manager, Business Development – Capital Markets works closely with practice leadership, senior managers, and operational teams to develop and execute key initiatives for the Capital Markets practice, focusing on the Derivatives and Structured Products group.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Capital Markets practice: Develop a deep understanding of our Capital Markets practice, including product offerings, attorney specialties, clients, and specific business‑development needs. Collaborate with attorneys and other teams on the creation and implementation of strategic initiatives.
- Market intelligence: Leverage industry research and news databases (S&P Capital IQ, Refinitiv, Bloomberg, Deal Point Data , Pitchbook and EDGAR) to monitor, research and report on market trends, competitor activity, and client developments. Identify opportunities for attorney outreach and engagement.
- League tables & deal tracking: Manage the league‑table process and build relationships with participating organizations to ensure timely submissions. Maintain the deal database and track matters for marketing and business‑development purposes. Prepare tombstones and deal lists for each focus area, geography, and industry.
- Profile‑raising: Liaise with external market organizations, publications, and the firm’s PR & Communications team to secure article placements, speaking opportunities, conference sponsor ships, webinars, and other visibility initiatives for attorneys.
- Collateral: Manage and prepare content for targeted presentations, proposals, and pitch materials. Work with partners to produce bespoke pitch materials and related collateral. Review and update print and digital marketing materials. Manage practice and attorney bios, and the Capital Markets page.
- Directory submissions: Draft and submit content for legal directories, awards, and industry guides (Chambers, Legal 500, IFLR
1000).
Position Requirements
- Knowledge of and experience with capital markets.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work confidently and collaboratively with individuals at all levels.

- High motivation, responsiveness, and commitment to client service excellence.

- Experience with legal‑research/legal‑news databases (S&P Capital IQ, Refinitiv, Bloomberg, Deal Point Data , Pitchbook, EDGAR).
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word).
- 5 to 10 years of experience in research intelligence, business development and marketing (financial services or law‑firm background preferred) or relevant corporate experience in a professional‑services role (law, banking, consulting).
- Bachelor’s degree required (preferably in business, marketing or economics). MBA, JD, or other advanced degrees are a plus.
The expected base salary for this position ranges from $175,000 to $225,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors, including relevant skills, training, experience, education, licensure or certifications, market and organizational factors.
