The NYU Furman Center seeks an undergraduate student office assistant for Summer 2026
. Preference will be given to sophomore or junior undergraduates for the academic year who can start during the spring 2026 semester and stay on for the fall 2026 semester, but all undergraduate applications will be considered.
The office assistant is a critical part of the Furman Center team, managing day-to-day office duties, which include maintaining contact databases and email inbox, tracking expenses, stocking supplies, answering the phone, and assisting with other office needs. In addition, the office assistant helps with preparation for conferences, meetings, events, and special projects such as supporting the release of the Furman Center’s annual State of New York City’s Housing and Neighborhoods report.
The NYU Furman Center is a joint center of the New York University School of Law and Robert
F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service that advances research and debate on housing, neighborhoods, and urban policy.
NYU undergraduate student (preference for sophomore or junior for the academic year); all majors welcome. We are looking for a reliable and committed team member with strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and a positive attitude. You must have fast and accurate typing skills (preferably 60+ WPM), familiarity with common software packages, and strong English language skills. It is essential that you can handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
Prior office experience is a plus, as is familiarity with contact databases like Salesforce and tools like Adobe Creative Suite, Buffer, Canva, Mailchimp, Vimeo, Word Press, and Zoom.
Performance will be evaluated through weekly formal check-ins with the Chief of Staff.
For qualified candidates, additional opportunities may occasionally be available to assist with data analysis and visualization. If this interests you, please also specify experience with MS Excel, Adobe Creative Suite, GIS, HTML, statistical packages (SAS, Stata, R), or programming languages (SQL, Python).
CompensationIn compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the hourly base salary range for this student employment position will be $17.00 per hour for undergraduate students as of 1/1/2026.
Desired Start Date and DurationThis position is for summer 2026 (25-35 hours/week) and the 2026-27 academic year (12-20 hours/week). There is potential for full- or part-time work during school breaks, as well as to continue for future academic years.
Students must be able to commit 25-35 hours/week during summer, and 12-20 hours/week (normal business hours) during fall and spring semesters.
