Location: New York
The NYC Department of Transportation is seeking an experienced and organized professional to serve as Supervisor of Machine Operations within the Mail Services & Storehouse Unit. This role oversees essential responsibilities for maintaining the efficiency and continuity of mailroom services, including managing supplies, coordinating repairs, and overseeing equipment functionality. The selected candidate will also assist with daily mail processing and storehouse inventory operations supporting agency-wide functions.
SUPERVISOR OF OFFICE MACHINE O - 11704
Responsibilities- Operate a variety of office and production machines, including high-volume copiers, mail inserters, folding machines, postage meters, and offset duplicating equipment.
- Perform complex machine-related tasks requiring technical knowledge, precision, and strong attention to detail.
- Conduct routine preventative maintenance and make minor repairs to mailroom and duplication equipment to ensure continuous and efficient operation.
- Monitor equipment performance and coordinate service requests when necessary.
- Support emergency operations involving large‑scale printing, duplication, and mail processing in response to equipment breakdowns or urgent citywide communications.
- Process, sort, distribute, and track incoming and outgoing mail, packages, and interoffice correspondence.
- Receive, inspect, and verify incoming shipments for accuracy and condition.
- Stock shelves and storage areas.
- Prepare materials and supplies for agency events, special mailings, and operational needs.
- Experience operating high‑volume mail or duplication equipment.
- Basic mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting and minor equipment repairs.
- Knowledge of inventory management and stockroom procedures.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to lift and move materials and supplies.
- Work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment.
- Flexibility to support emergency operations when required.

Residency RequirementNew York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for two continuous years may be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County.
