Overview
This position is an integral role within M&T’s Property Preservation team that will execute day-to-day functions including managing a presale and conveyance portfolio, by working daily tasks, reviewing monthly inspections, monitoring insurance claims, working closely with other Default Departments and participating in weekly conference calls with the property preservation vendors.
Primary Responsibilities- Review monthly inspections.
- Review bids and submit them to team leaders for review and approval when denied by HUD and work is needed to preserve the property.
- Review claim repairs, and investor allowable. Submit bids to team leaders for review and approval.
- Participate in weekly conference calls with property preservation vendors to discuss loans that have issues.
- Oversee emails and the Property Preservation mailbox ensuring that all correspondence is responded to timely.
- Review loans for alternative dispositions that are not conveyance to HUD. Complete a write up and gather all necessary documentation needed for the recommendation. Refer all files to Real Estate Owned (REO) that cannot be conveyed to the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) once approval is received.
- Complete projects related to nonperforming loan sale, due diligence bids for HUD and overdue tasks.
- Manage a presale and conveyance portfolio, ensuring that deadlines are met by working closely with the vendor, obtaining status updates and reducing monetary losses.
- Adhere to applicable compliance/operational risk controls in accordance with Company or regulatory standards and policies.
- Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
- Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
- Complete other related duties as assigned.
This position interacts with internal CAM departments, external third-party property preservation vendors and HUD.
Education and Experience RequiredA combined 4 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 2 years’ Mortgage Default and/or Property preservation experience.
Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and email software.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Detail oriented.
Motivated, team player with a positive and friendly attitude.
Strong analytical ability and problem-solving skills.
Very strong work ethic and ability to work independently and make decisions.
Education and Experience PreferredBachelor’s degree.
Knowledge of departmental software and M&T Bank systems.
5 years’ Mortgage Default and/or property preservation experience.
Prior Departmental Experience PreferredM&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $22.61 - $37.67 Hourly (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
