A leading global law firm is seeking an experienced Managing Clerk to oversee its Managing Clerk’s Office and support Litigation practice groups across federal, state, and local courts.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the Managing Clerk’s Office: staffing, workflow, mentoring, and quality control.
- Serve as primary escalation point for procedural and filing issues.
- Coordinate appellate filings and collaborate with printing vendors.
- Administer docketing/calendaring system (Milana or similar) with accuracy audits.
- Manage service of process via vendors and electronic platforms.
- Research and monitor court rules, judges’ practices, and docket activity.
- Advise attorneys on filing strategies, deadlines, reservations, and risk mitigation.
- Liaise with courts, attorneys, paralegals, co‑counsel, and clients.
- Manage attorney admissions/registrations and maintain records.
- Partner with IT and vendors on workflow tools, templates, and improvements.
- Provide urgent, after‑hours, and late‑night filing coverage; local NY court runs as needed.
- 7+ years experience in a Managing Clerk’s Office with supervisory responsibilities.
- Expert knowledge of federal & NY court rules, procedures, filing, and service requirements.
- Mastery of PACER/Next Gen CM/ECF, NYSCEF, EDDS, Odyssey, File&Serve Xpress.
- Proficiency with Milana (or similar docketing tools), Microsoft Office, and iManage.
