POSITION DETAILS

The CUNY School of Law is the premier public interest law school in the country. The CUNY School of Law seeks to hire an Academic Affairs Administrative Coordinator for the evening program, who will report directly to the Executive Director of Academic Affairs. This position typically follows a 4-day work week and variable evening hours, e.g. 10AM – 7:15PM or 11AM – 8:15PM. During exams, later hours may be necessary.

Key Responsibilities Include:
  • Oversee the Bar Support Program budget, including managing requisitions, reconciling and racking expenses. Must be proficient in using CUNY BUY to process and monitor purchases and requisitions.
  • Assist the Bar Support Committee by gathering materials for grant and scholarship decisions, preparing award letters, and supporting the distribution of funding.
  • Coordinate the Bar Grants and Scholarship submission process, and collaborate with the Business Office to ensure timely and accurate payments.
  • Conduct internal surveys to support the Bar Support Program’s planning and evaluation efforts.
  • Provide administrative support to the Academic Skills Program and Academic Affairs, including assisting assigned faculty and managing course-related tasks each semester.
  • Assist with scheduling and proctoring special examinations for students.
  • May supervise College Office Assistant staff and provide training as needed.
  • Support the Skills Director in managing the Summer Law Institute program, including coordinating the selection process with Admissions, sending offers, and overseeing all program logistics.
  • Coordinate travel arrangements for assigned Directors and special guests.
  • Serve as faculty liaison for Brightspace, Navigate, and CUNY First, offering guidance and training to faculty as needed.
  • May require some weekends.

This position is subject to the same in-person requirements as other staff in the Law School. This entails a minimum of 80% in-person presence on-campus and may be higher than 80% based on departmental and divisional needs.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as an administrative assistant or similar role (2-4 years)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Proficient in People Soft (CUNY First, Brightspace)
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Provides basic information, instructions, and materials as requested by students, faculty, and others who contact the department.
  • May supervise office staff and student workers.
