Overview
A principal on the Upper East Side of Manhattan is seeking a temporary Household Manager/Personal Assistant to cover a 3-month maternity leave. The ideal candidate will have a mix of household management and administrative experience, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work independently. The assignment is expected to begin February 23rd, with a two-week overlap alongside the current House Manager for training and handoff.
This role supports the efficient operation of the principal’s primary residence and a separate studio and involves a combination of administrative tasks, household oversight, and personal assistance.
Responsibilities Household Management- Oversee day-to-day household operations at the primary residence and studio
- Monitor staff attendance and communicate absences to the principal
- Answer phone calls, intercom, and front door as needed
- Sort, organize, and distribute mail
- Communicate tasks and updates to household staff
- Reconcile chef’s purchases and order household supplies
- Prepare and format documents in Microsoft Word, adhering to specific style and layout requirements
- Maintain daily summary sheets outlining completed tasks, ongoing projects, and next steps
- Organize digital materials (articles, photos, etc.), cleaning up content and formatting for ease of use
- Print, copy, file, and maintain organized records
- Assist with minor tech issues; larger computer issues handled by an external consultant
- Handle travel arrangements and assorted online purchases for the principal
- Research and identify vendors for household and studio projects
- Document project details and present clear options and recommendations
Occasionally supervise non-employee vendors or contractors on-site
- Exceptional organizational and communication skills
- Self-starter who can take direction and anticipate needs
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word; some experience with Excel
- Comfortable with Apple products and technology in general
- Experience in household management or personal assistant roles preferred
- Ability to spend a majority of the day on computer-based tasks
- $50-$65 per hour paid via payroll
