Position Summary:
The Planned Giving & Endowments (PG&E) department works with individual donors to create planned gifts that meet their philanthropic and financial objectives in support of UJA’s mission. Thanks to the strength of UJA’s endowment, built through planned gifts, our organization has a solid foundation that keeps us agile to respond to crises and provide more than one-third of our annual budget each year.
Working in this department gives you exposure to a variety of complex philanthropic gifts in a highly valued area of fundraising.
The Senior Development Assistant will be responsible for a range of important written and oral communications and will provide essential administrative support for the Vice President of Planned Giving & Endowments. The right candidate is self-motivated, organized and thinks strategically with an interest in learning about fundraising and planned giving in a collaborative environment. This position provides ongoing learning opportunities directly from an industry and organizational leader and will provide highly transferable skills in the field of philanthropy.

Major Responsibilities:
- Develop and compose letters, memos, reports, and other written communications.
- Coordinate and assist with fundraising activities including events, donor relations, interdepartmental communications, and external marketing.
- Plan and prepare for internal and external meetings.
- Manage and maintain database, donor lists, donor correspondence, meeting notes, and calendars.
- Engage donors as appropriate.
- Organize and prepare for committee meetings with lay leaders.
- Assemble mailings and track donor responses.
- Process, prepare, and track gift paperwork.
- General administrative duties such as maintaining departmental attendance, answering departmental hotline and general e-mail, and updating policies and procedure manual.
- Various projects as assigned.
Qualifications and
Competencies:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite; comfortable working with various databases
- Positive work ethic and an ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational, and writing skills necessary
- Ability to follow systems and procedures while also exhibiting creative thinking
- Detail-oriented and effective time manager, with the ability to prioritize and multitask in a demanding work environment
The salary range for this role is $50,000-$55,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
This role reports to the Vice President of PG&E and is a hybrid position, with a set three days/week in office.
