Background:

The Executive Director’s Office (EDO) provides overall leadership and strategic direction to UN Women, ensuring coherence across its triple mandate and alignment with the Entity’s Strategic Plan. The Office includes the Executive Director and two Deputy Executive Directors, who form the Executive Leadership Team and provide organizational leadership across strategic, programmatic, coordination, and management portfolios, as well as specialized functions that support executive decision-making and oversight, including legal advice, ethics, governance, and engagement with the Executive Board.
The EDO is further comprised of the Directorates of the Executive Director and her Deputies.
Under the supervision of the Deputy Chief of Staff and the joint guidance of the DEDs’ Special Assistants,the Programme Analyst will support the DED/ASG’s Office through coordination, communication, and substantive assistance, contributing to the effective execution of management and representation duties. The role includes providing analytical and organizational support on strategic issues, facilitating engagement with internal and external partners, and ensuring efficient preparation and follow-up for the DED/ASG’s meetings, missions, and corporate priorities.
The Programme Analyst willalso support, under the of the Strategic Planning and Internal Governance Specialist,the secretariat functions for the Global Management Team (GMT), the Advisory Committee on Oversight (ACO) and other UN Women governance bodies, as established.
Key Functions and Accountabilities:
Provide internal coordination and technical support to the ASGs/DEDs
- Assist in the strategic management of the ASGs/DEDs’ agendas, ensuring timely coordination, quality control and clearance of briefing materials and compiling the daily/weekly briefing folders. This includes coordination and support around key corporate and inter-agency engagements, such as the Deputies Committee meetings, the High-Level Committee on Management (HLCM), the High-Level Committee on Programme (HLCP), CSW, UNGA, HLPF, Executive Board sessions, and Global Management Team meetings.
- Under the guidance of the Special Assistants, provide coordination support to the planning and organization of theASGs/DEDs’ official travel to ensure missions are strategic, well-prepared, and results-driven. This includes coordinating the timely and high-quality preparation of official travel files and background documents by the relevant divisions and teams; preparing electronic travel folders, as required; and ensuring the completion of official travel reports, partner correspondence, and systematic follow-up actions, as requested.
- Support systematic, proactive and timely follow-up to meetings and corporate initiatives, including the preparation of notes, summaries, and correspondence, and liaising with relevant divisions and offices to ensure accountability and implementation of agreed actions.
Support the Governance Secretariat within UN Women
- Support the management of UN Women’s governance bodies.
- Ensure the organization’s governance bodies meet as planned/requested, and, in close collaboration with relevant staff in the Executive Office, that discussions are strategic in nature – advising on agenda items and topics for collective discussion and decision making.
