Real Estate Developer is looking to add a Project Accountant to their construction division. The Project Accountant will be responsible for AIA billing, WIP reporting, interfacing with PM's, and managing project financials. This role offers long-term growth as the firm has a consistent pipeline of work for the next several years.
Key Responsibilities- Manage full-cycle project accounting for multiple construction projects simultaneously
- Prepare and process AIA progress billings (G702/G703) and related documentation
- Track project budgets, costs, commitments, and change orders
- Maintain accurate job cost reports and analyze cost variances
- Work closely with project managers to monitor project financial performance
- Process subcontractor invoices and ensure proper lien waivers and compliance documentation
- Assist with monthly financial reporting, WIP schedules, and project forecasts
- Reconcile project accounts and assist with the month-end and year-end close
- Support audit requests and internal financial reviews
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Experience supporting ground-up or large-scale construction projects
- Familiarity with construction contracts and compliance documentation
- 3+ years of project accounting experience within a General Contractor or construction environment
- Strong experience with AIA billing and construction draw processes
- Knowledge of job cost accounting, subcontractor pay applications, and change order tracking
- Proficiency with construction accounting systems (e.g., Sage 300/Timberline, Procore, Viewpoint, or similar)
- Strong Excel skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced construction environment
