Atrium is seeking on behalf of our client a Senior Accountant (Industry) — Ideal for Big 4 Auditors Transitioning to Private

Location:

New York, NY (Hybrid)

Pay: $90,000–$120,000 annually

Overview

Atrium is seeking on behalf of our client a Senior Accountant to join a high‑growth New York City organization. This opportunity is designed specifically for Big 4 or national firm Assurance/Audit professionals looking to transition into private industry before busy season ends, avoiding the surge of applicants that typically occurs afterward.

You will join a collaborative accounting team with leadership that includes multiple former Big 4 managers and directors, providing mentorship, structure, and clear guidance as you shift from audit to industry.

A background check may be run at a conditional offer stage, where permitted by law.

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities
  • Lead key areas of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close, including journal entries, account reconciliations, variance analysis, and supporting documentation.
  • Support preparation of US GAAP financial statements and partner with external auditors.
  • Assist with process improvements, internal control enhancements, and operational accounting initiatives.
  • Collaborate with FP&A, Operations, and other stakeholders on analytics and ad‑hoc projects.
  • Grow into expanded responsibilities such as fixed assets, revenue, consolidations, equity accounting, or other areas depending on skillset and interest.
Qualifications
  • 1–4+ years in public accounting (Big 4 or strong national firm) with audit/assurance experience.
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP; SOX/ICFR exposure helpful but not required.
  • Solid Excel skills; familiarity with ERPs such as Net Suite, SAP, Oracle, or Workday preferred.
  • CPA or parts passed preferred, not required.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative, ownership‑driven mindset.
Why This Role Is Ideal for Big 4 Alumni
  • Structured mentorship:
Work directly with managers and directors who transitioned from Big 4 and understand the learning curve.
  • Broad exposure:
Gain experience across close, reporting, and cross‑functional partnerships without being siloed.
  • Thoughtful onboarding:
Join prior to the post‑busy‑season hiring rush to secure a smoother ramp and stronger integration into the team.
Additional Benefits May Include

If eligible under the ACA, medical, dental, and vision benefits and time off in accordance with local paid sick time laws will be offered.

  • Paid holidays
  • Life insurance
  • Disability coverage
  • Employee assistance program
  • Other compensation programs may include overtime, shift differentials, bonuses, commissions, or other incentive compensation, where applicable.
