PositionDescription
The Manager, Accounting (contractor role) is a critical role within the organization’s accounting department, responsible for preparing and reviewing various schedules/reports/deliverables across multiple accounting areas. This person will be responsible for various aspects of the month‑end close and ensuring compliance with US GAAP and SOX. This candidate will also be involved in assisting in various ways with the Company’s ERP implementation project.
The primary purpose of the role is to supplement our current FTEs while the Company is embarking on a multi‑year ERP system implementation project. This is a highly visible and hands‑on role that works directly with management and staff in Accounting, Financial Reporting, Finance, Treasury, Tax, and other departments.
- Reviewing and/or preparing journal entries, supporting schedules, account analyses, reconciliations and variance explanations as part of the month‑end close
- Managing monthly accounting close processes, including ensuring timeliness of completion of related tasks by the team
- Conducting in‑depth analysis of financial results, identifying trends and anomalies, and interpreting variances in the context of underlying business activities to provide insights
- Presenting aspects of monthly financial results to Senior Management
- Ensuring that effective internal controls and accounting policies are in place and are adhered to
- Collaborating with Financial Reporting and relevant business partners to ensure proper accounting for new business transactions and/or collaboration agreements
- Facilitating quarterly and annual requests from internal and external auditors, and leading audit readiness preparation (as required)
- Assisting in supporting Oracle Fusion Cloud Financials ERP implementation project
- Participating in design sessions, working cross‑functionally with IT, external consultants, and others to ensure requirements are accurately captured with a focus on process efficiency, accounting accuracy, and internal controls
- Performing user acceptance testing, and ensuring work papers and process documentation are updated as appropriate in advance of go‑live
- Managing and participating in continuous improvement initiatives and special projects as necessary
- Providing timely and constructive feedback in connection with reviewing the work of others
- Possess in‑depth accounting knowledge gained through a mix of public accounting and hands‑on corporate accounting experience
- Strong attention to detail
- Have experience leading, coaching and developing a team
- Can effectively communicate across all levels of the organization and build rapport with stakeholders
- Have a track record of process improvement to gain efficiencies
- Prior experience with ERP system implementations a plus
- Must be a CPA
- 10 years of accounting experience, including 5 years in a people management role
- Big 4 Accounting experience is preferred
- High proficiency with Microsoft applications is required, specifically Microsoft Excel
- Experience with Oracle GL, Smart View, Oracle Fixed Asset Module, Reval, and/or Clearwater is a plus
