The Junior Staff Accountant supports purchasing and accounts payable operations by ensuring accurate invoice processing, procurement compliance, vendor coordination, and strong documentation practices. This role focuses on operational execution and compliance while maintaining clear separation from cash disbursement and independent reconciliations.
Salary Range
: $55,500 - $65,000/Annually
- Procurement & Purchasing Support:
- Enter and process purchase requisitions in Req Logic ensuring accuracy and policy compliance
- Maintain executed contracts and procurement documentation
- Liaise with departments to clarify purchasing requirements and procedures
- Coordinate with vendors and departments to resolve purchasing issues
- Support purchasing‑related training for staff and new hires
- Accounts Payable Operations:
- Manage full‑cycle invoice processing including PO matching, coding, approvals, and GP entry
- Process recurring vendor invoices and ensure accuracy against contracts
- Record prepaid and deferred expenses accurately
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies
- Process student refunds and deposits in compliance with policies and regulations
- Records & Audit Support:
- Maintain organized, audit‑ready documentation in SharePoint and accounting systems
- Provide documentation and schedules for internal and external audits
- Timely and accurate completion of assigned accounting tasks and reconciliations.
- Financial statements and reports are accurate, well‑supported, and delivered by established deadlines.
- Effective communication and collaboration across departments.
Education
:
Four‑year college degree or equivalent in accounting or related field
Required Knowledge
:
Strong information systems skills including Microsoft Excel, Word, and accounting
Experience Required
:
Minimum of 1‑2 years of accounting, auditing, or accounts payable experience
Skills/Abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and experience dealing effectively with a wide range of people
- Outstanding customer service skills and desire to assist others; approachable;
Excellent writing and editing skills - Strong initiative: able to take action and determine correct course of action to solve problems, complete assignments, etc.
- Excellent organizational skills; able to set and juggle multiple priorities
- Flexibility, able work with minimal supervision under tight deadlines and in pressure situations
- Ability to work in person or remote as conditions warrant
- Understanding of accounting software
