Job Summary

Perform day-to-day accounting activities and financial analysis, oversee full-cycle accounting for affiliated organizations, and ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records. This role is responsible for supporting fundraising activities, meeting deadlines and maintaining compliance with organizational policies, GAAP, and all applicable regulatory requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Oversee full-cycle accounting for Friends of St. Dominics including accounting for fundraising events, tracking donations and supporting fundraising activities.
  • Ensure accuracy of financial records and timely completion of accounting activities for SDFS and all affiliated organizations, including proposing journal entries, reviewing transactions for accuracy and completeness, performing detailed reconciliations for balance sheet accounts.
  • Assist Controller with analyzing variances and investigating discrepancies.
  • Assist CFO with various financial analysis, including budget vs. actual analysis.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes and ensure adherence to closing deadlines.
  • Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for the annual financial audit.
  • Contribute to departmental initiatives to enhance efficiency, improve accuracy, and streamline accounting processes.
  • Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting required.
  • Minimum 5 years general accounting including reconciling balance sheet accounts, investigating discrepancies and performing accounting analysis.
  • Non-profit accounting experience preferred.
  • Advanced excel skill required.
  • Familiar with general ledger software programs (Sage Intacct preferred).
  • Knowledge of fiscal audits to understand nature of record keeping and documentation required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to prioritize and multitask.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Teams. Knowledge of Give Smart a plus.
  • Ability to interact and complete assignments in a manner sensitive to the service populations cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
