Staff Accountant

A mission-driven Nonprofit organization in Midtown Manhattan is seeking a Staff Accountant to join the team on a temp-to-perm basis. This role supports day-to-day accounting operations and offers a strong opportunity to convert to a permanent position for someone looking to grow within a nonprofit environment.

The Staff Accountant will work closely with the finance team to support accurate financial reporting, maintain strong internal controls, and assist with month-end close activities.

• Support general ledger activities including journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close
• Assist with AP, AR, and payroll support as needed
• Prepare and maintain supporting schedules for monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting
• Assist with financial statement preparation in accordance with GAAP
• Support internal controls, documentation, and accounting policies
• Assist with audit preparation and respond to auditor requests
• Utilize and support the organization’s accounting system (Net Suite preferred)
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely financial data

• 2–4 years of accounting experience, preferably within a nonprofit environment
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• Working knowledge of GAAP
• Experience with grants or donor-restricted funds a plus
• Ability to work onsite 3 days per week in Midtown Manhattan
• Comfortable with a temp-to-perm structure and intent to convert to full-time

Compensation
: $31–$37/hour

Compensation is based on experience, skill set, and other job-related qualifications.
