Position Title: Senior Accountant
Location: New York, NY
Position SummaryThe Senior Accountant plays a key role in the company’s corporate accounting function with responsibilities including month end close procedures, journal entries, reconciliations, revenue and expense review, financial reporting, US GAAP and IFRS compliance, and internal controls. The ideal candidate will have a passion for improving processes, driving efficiency, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards.
Key Responsibilities- Ensures the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, and entering transactions.
- Prepares and records asset, liability, revenue, and expense entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
- Prepare and review monthly account reconciliations and variance analysis.
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad hoc reporting to ensure compliance with the company’s policies and procedures and accounting standards.
- Intercompany accounting for the company’s operating units.
- Ensures compliance with US GAAP and IFRS reporting requirements.
- Assist in annual budget and monthly forecast preparation.
- Collaborates within the organization in order to streamline processes, drive efficiencies, and ensure accuracy of the company’s financial results.
- Partner with external and internal auditors to ensure compliance with controls and procedures
- Provides hands on coaching and mentoring of colleagues within the organization.
- Support management to complete special projects and ad-hoc reporting
- BS in Accounting/Finance from an accredited four-year college or university
- 4-5 years’ progressive experience in accounting
- Strong understanding of US GAAP and IFRS with demonstrated competence and understanding of financial statements.
- Proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft applications.
- Proven analytical, problem solving, and process improvement abilities
- Experience with multiple corporate entities and consolidations
- Self-starter who is results oriented and continuous improvement oriented with the ability to perform with minimal supervision.
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interface with various levels of management.
- External audit experience
- ERP experience required with SAP experience strongly preferred
- Experience in general accounting with internal control experience in the chemical industry
