Accountant, Bookkeeper​/ Accounting Clerk, Accounts Receivable​/ Collections

Location: Roslyn Heights

Description We are looking for an experienced Accountant to support financial operations for a short-term contract role in Roslyn Heights, New York. This position involves reconciling accounts, streamlining transaction records, and ensuring the accuracy of financial data for reporting and auditing purposes. The role is initially set as a contract position, with the potential for a permanent opportunity based on performance and fit.

Responsibilities:

- Reconcile bank statements and resolve any discrepancies identified during the process.

- Categorize and allocate transactions to ensure proper coding and alignment with financial goals.

- Perform accounts payable and accounts receivable tasks as needed to support operational efficiency.

- Maintain and organize financial records to ensure readiness for audits and reporting.

- Prepare journal entries and update the general ledger with accurate accounting information.

- Review and verify financial documents to support compliance with regulations.

- Assist with ongoing account clean-up to ensure data integrity.

- Provide insights and recommendations for improving financial processes and documentation. Requirements - Proficiency in performing bank reconciliations with attention to detail.

- Strong knowledge of accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) processes.

- Experience in managing general ledger entries and journal transactions.

- Ability to categorize and allocate financial transactions accurately.

- Familiarity with bookkeeping and financial documentation practices.

- Proven ability to identify and resolve discrepancies in financial records.

- Strong organizational skills for maintaining audit-ready documentation.

- Previous experience in contract accounting roles is a plus.
