Description
We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in New Paltz, New York. This is a fully on-site, long-term contract position offering the opportunity to work standard business hours Monday through Friday. The ideal candidate will have experience in hotel accounting and a strong background in financial processes, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger management.
Responsibilities:
- Process accounts payable by entering invoices, matching them to purchase orders, and preparing payments.
- Oversee accounts receivable functions, including posting payments, creating invoices, and following up on outstanding balances.
- Maintain and reconcile the general ledger to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Handle purchase orders by tracking, processing, and managing related documentation.
- Prepare and post journal entries to support accurate financial records.
- Perform bank account reconciliations and balance sheet account reviews.
- Assist with month-end close activities and ensure timely completion of financial tasks.
- Conduct cash reconciliations to maintain accurate cash flow tracking.
- Support weekly payroll processing and ensure all data is accurate and submitted on time.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience, preferably in the hotel or hospitality industry.
- Proficiency in managing accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
- Strong knowledge of general ledger systems and journal entry preparation.
- Experience with bank account and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Familiarity with month-end close procedures and cash reconciliations.
- Ability to handle payroll processing with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Highly organized with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
