National General Contractor is looking to hire a critical Project Accountant for their New York Office. The Project Accountant will be responsible for AIA billing, creating project financials, and interfacing with Sub Contractors. Ideal candidates will have experience in another General Contractor and a strong understanding of AIA billing (G702 & G703).
Key Responsibilities- Create invoicing for multiple entities with similar services.
- Monitor the status of existing projects in the accounting system.
- Effectively communicate with Project Managers regarding contract documents, change orders, and other contract modifications, approvals, and any additional service related to billing.
- Compile, analyze, & process a high volume of project bills to clients on a monthly basis.
- Work closely with project managers to ensure that invoices are accurate and comply with corporate guidelines.
- Review weekly field timesheets to ensure they are submitted and approved before invoicing.
- Coordinate with subcontractors to receive a certified payroll report.
- Maintain project billing folder and accounting system to ensure all invoices and other project-related documents are readily accessible for project managers & accounting department.
- Communicate professionally with project managers, clients, and other staff, providing accurate information, timely responses to inquiries, and completing assignments.
- Investigate billing errors and resolve discrepancies.
- Assist with special projects as needed.
- Provide support to other accounting staff.
- Prepare various monthly billing & supporting reports.
- Monitor accounts & take appropriate actions with customers to arrange payments, issue monthly statements, & bill items as per proposals.
- Reviews and ensures accuracy of vendor invoices prior to billing clients.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance or similar field.
- 1-3 years of billing experience in Construction contracting related industries
- AIA experience preferred
- NYC and NYS Agency Billing preferred
- Sage 300 & PROCROE experience preferred
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
