Our client is a well‑funded, early‑stage technology and insurance company backed by an experienced and highly regarded leadership team. They are seeking a Director of Accounting to play a pivotal role in shaping how accounting services are delivered across the organization. This leader will serve as a trusted advisor to clients, partner closely with technology teams to build industry‑leading tools, and help develop a growing team with deep expertise in captive accounting.

Location:

Remote or on‑site in New York City.

• Serve as the accounting point person for client executives. Lead accounting discussions, present financials to leadership teams, and guide clients through captive‑specific questions.
• Coach and develop accountants on captive insurance accounting. Provide review on complex financials. Leverage external advisory partners for technical questions that require specialized expertise.
• Partner with the technology team to codify captive accounting knowledge into scalable processes, workflows, and platform features. Your experience shapes what we automate and how.
• Coordinate with accounting advisory partners on technical matters. Know when to elevate and how to translate guidance into actionable direction for the team.

• 10+ years of professional accounting experience, with captive insurance or specialty insurance exposure.
• Bachelor's degree in relevant discipline.
• Experience coaching or mentoring junior accountants.
