As a Founding CPA
, you will play a pivotal role in shaping Afternoon’s early operations, processes, and customer experience around taxes, bookkeeping & compliance. You’ll be an operator at first but we hope you will be able to grow/manage the accounting function as our company scales. You’ll collaborate directly with the founders & our customers to establish the foundation upon which the company grows.

• Drive and execute on daily/weekly bookkeeping need, support monthly closes of customers and package their end-of-year tax returns following US GAAP principles.
• Drive the strategic direction and design of accounting-related features in our product, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and UX.
• Provide deep expertise in GAAP accounting principles, tax regulations, and compliance requirements to guide product development.
• Collaborate closely with software engineers, product managers, and UX/UI designers to create seamless, intuitive user experiences.
• Develop and maintain internal financial processes, including financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and analysis.
• Serve as the internal subject-matter expert on evolving accounting standards, regulatory updates, and best practices.
• Act as an advocate for users, integrating customer feedback into product enhancements and feature prioritization.

• CPA license (active) with a minimum of 5+ years of accounting experience, ideally within tech startups, SaaS companies, or fast-paced environments.
• Strong technical expertise in financial accounting, tax compliance, and GAAP.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with an entrepreneurial mindset and high degree of flexibility.
• Ability to clearly communicate complex accounting concepts to technical and non-technical team members.
• Passion for leveraging technology to improve accounting processes and outcomes.
• Experience or strong interest in product management and software development processes.
