Job Description
The Director of Sales and Operations leads the regional team and assigned stores across all aspects of financial, sales, operations, and personnel performance. This leader maximizes performance by executing Support Center strategic initiatives and deploying resources in Operations, Merchandising, and HR to develop Store Managers.
This role will oversee stores in New York, and Vermont.
Work Experience
Financial Leadership
- Partner with the VP of Sales to set budgets and drive growth in customer count, average transactions, net sales, and 4-wall EBITDA.
- Support Store Managers in annual sales and payroll budgeting using internal benchmark data.
- Act as the primary advisor on market trends and historical data to identify growth opportunities.
- Analyze sales trends by category to develop actionable revenue-gain plans.
- Drive online, in-store, and special orders while maximizing customer loyalty program participation.
- Expand B2B and "Pro" business within the region.
- Leverage social media and local nonprofit "Round Up" campaigns to increase market presence.
- Ensure flawless execution of store tasks using Theatro, Elvis, and TCB Tasks.
- Manage gross margin, price changes, and unique local product offerings (SMaSH).
- Evaluate in-stock levels and resolve "out of stock" (red) issues through sequencing.
- Manage backroom stock (yellow/blue dots) to support assortments and inventory turnover.
- Monitor min/max levels, complete manual orders, and oversee weekly cycle counts.
- Implement and monitor pilot programs and new store merchandising initiatives.
- Oversee performance management and counseling process to ensure progressive discipline and consistency throughout the organization.
- Oversee and participate in the Annual Performance Check-In Process.
- Develop and deploy management systems and performance improvement plans.
- Partner with HR to appropriately staff region stores in alignment with expected financial performance.
- Interview, hire, verify documentation, and onboard direct reports.
- Promote Employee Engagement through the demonstration of leadership skills in support of our core values.
- Contribute to the continued development of our value proposition with a focus on market differentiation in the retail industry.
- A bachelor's degree or equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities are required.
- 5+ years multi-store or regional management experience required.
- 5+ years of merchandising and operational experience.
- 5+ years of leadership experience, preferably in a retail environment.
- Requires mandatory travel, including overnight stays.
- Ability to work a flexible weekly schedule.
- Ability to travel a minimum of 75% of the time.
- Experience leveraging sales and profit opportunities through shrink management and safety performance.
- Strong leadership, customer service, and organizational skills with a positive and professional personality.
- Ability to analyze complex problems, identify solutions, and provide decision-making leadership to effectively influence others and champion and implement ideas.
- Candidates must successfully complete a pre-employment and annual motor vehicle background check.
