Job Description & How to Apply Below
Are you a visionary storyteller with the strategic grit to lead in a high-stakes, fast-evolving landscape? We are looking for a powerhouse Director of Communications to lead our Premium Experiences Pod within the Banking & Premium Products (B&PP) team.
As a key member of the B&PP Chief of Staff leadership team, you will lead a mid-sized pod of high-performing communicators, event project managers, and creative specialists. You will be the strategic architect behind the narratives for our most emerging growth portfolios, including Premium Products & Travel (PP&T), Loyalty, Marketing & Spend Experiences (LMS), Capital One Shopping, and our Risk Office.
The Role:
Impact & Influence
You will sit at the intersection of brand reputation and business value, serving as a trusted advisor to senior executives. Your mission is to build belief in our vision, drive associate engagement, and translate complex business strategies into simple, high-energy narratives. You will consult senior executives on their brands and their business communications, helping to shape an incredible culture for associates to do epic things.
Key Responsibilities:
* Strategic Advisory:
Act as the primary communications counselor for business leaders
* Narrative Excellence:
Define and execute an integrated communications and events strategy that elevates the brand, work, and culture of our Premium Experiences organization
* High-Octane Storytelling:
Execute a steady drumbeat of internal storytelling through digital/video content, executive gatherings, and large-scale associate events
* Data-Driven Evolution:
Use real-time metrics and KPIs to evaluate channel effectiveness, recommending bold refinements to reach our associates where they are and where leaders need them
* People Leadership:
Lead and mentor a dynamic team of communicators and content strategists, fueling momentum and fostering a culture of creative problem-solving. Act as a LT member for a scaled CoS office supporting 2 Executive Committee members
* Change Management:
Navigate high-impact organizational shifts with transparency and speed, ensuring our teams stay informed and inspired
Who You Are
* A Master of Judgment:
You thrive in stakeholder management and can read the room (and the data) to make high-stakes decisions with confidence.
* An Influencer:
You have a proven track record of building deep, trusting relationships with executive leaders and "rolling up your sleeves" to get the job done.
* A Problem-Solver:
You don't just see obstacles; you see opportunities to innovate and find a "better way". You are solutions backed and insight driven.
* Business Savvy:
You have an ability to identify and deeply understand business needs and can speak the language of the business fluently.
Basic Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree or military experience
* At least 2 years of experience creating communications content and strategy on behalf of senior leadership
* At least 8 years of experience in Internal Communications, Marketing, or Public Relations
* At least 6 years of experience in a communications leadership role
Preferred Qualifications
* 4+ years of experience in luxury, travel, financial services, technology, or a highly regulated consumer industry.
* 4+ years of experience managing large-scale change management and crisis communications.
* Proven ability as a strategic thinker, problem-solver, and influencer
* Strong collaboration, interpersonal, and coaching skills
* Strong organizational and prioritization capabilities
