About the Position
The Director of Construction will lead all construction operations and serve as a key member of the senior leadership team. This role is being hired in advance of the current Director's upcoming retirement, ensuring a smooth transition and strong continuity of leadership.
The ideal candidate will oversee multiple concurrent renovation projects-typically ranging from $100K to $200K, with occasional projects exceeding $1M-while managing and mentoring project managers and field teams. This leader will maintain and enhance the company's well-established operational standards, drive efficiency, support quality control, and reinforce a culture of professionalism and client service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage company-wide construction operations and project delivery.
- Oversee multiple projects and project managers simultaneously.
- Maintain and elevate construction standards, processes, and best practices.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to company quality expectations.
- Provide mentorship and performance management to project management staff.
- Collaborate with design, estimating, and executive leadership to support company goals.
- Participate in long-term operational planning and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Proven leadership experience within residential or commercial remodeling or general construction.
- Strong background overseeing multi-project operations in a high-detail environment.
- Ability to manage, mentor, and develop project managers and field personnel.
- Experience with projects ranging from $100K-$200K, with exposure to projects over $1M preferred.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and client-facing skills.
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing, scheduling, subcontractor coordination, and quality control.
- New York City construction experience strongly preferred.
- Base Salary: $225,000-$250,000
