Overview:
The Floating Senior Custodian is responsible for performing advanced custodial duties across multiple facilities to ensure a clean, safe, and well-maintained environment. This position focuses on deep cleaning tasks and specialized sanitation projects, supporting locations as needed. The role requires flexibility, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while adhering to health and safety standards.
Responsibilities:
- Perform deep cleaning of floors, carpets, restrooms, kitchens, and high-touch surfaces using appropriate equipment and chemicals.
- Strip, wax, and buff floors; shampoo carpets; and clean upholstery as scheduled.
- Conduct periodic sanitization and disinfection of common areas, including break rooms, meeting spaces, and high-traffic zones.
- Operate and maintain custodial equipment such as floor scrubbers, extractors, and pressure washers.
- Respond to special cleaning requests and emergency situations promptly.
- Monitor inventory of cleaning supplies and report replenishment needs.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA standards and company safety protocols.
- Assist with training and mentoring custodial staff when assigned to different facilities.
- Travel between locations as scheduled, maintaining reliability and punctuality. Performance Tracking & Reporting
- Generate and deliver monthly and quarterly reports on key cleaning performance indicators, such as average time to close work orders and the volume and types of requests received.
- Identify trends to improve efficiency, reduce response time, minimize the number of recurring cleaning issues, and enhance overall service delivery.
- Advise the Facility Manager on staffing, supply needs, subcontractor use, and equipment upgrades to meet operational goals and improve service outcomes.
- Minimum 3-5 years of custodial experience, including deep cleaning and floor care.
- Dependable and flexible as well as possessing the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Excellent internal, external customer service skills and strong interpersonal skills.
- Good communication skills verbally and written, including the ability to communicate with all levels of management.
- Certificate of Fitness (S95)
- OSHA certification
- Ability and aptitude to carry out a schedule of maintenance plan.
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task.
- Must be proficient in Outlook.
- Ability & flexibility to work at multiple sites as needed, work occasional overtime, and offer flexibility regarding scheduling work time.
- Ability to handle cleaning chemicals & solvents daily.
