Overall Purpose

This position will provide day-to-day support to the company's product team advising on a broad range of legal issues through the product development lifecycle, including regulatory compliance, product marketing, and contracts.

Essential Functions

* Review and advise on legal risk mitigation strategies for new and existing products, features and business initiatives

* Advise on compliance with applicable laws and regulations relating to the company's products

* Provide legal support and guidance on product marketing, disclosures, terms of use and other public facing documents pertinent to products

* Advise on contract terms and issues related to products

* Collaborate with other internal partners, including privacy, security, compliance, risk management and other members of the Legal department, to provide integrated support to the product team

* Work independently without significant supervision in support of client needs

* Comply with all security policies and procedures, to ensure that the highest level of system and data confidentiality, integrity and availability is maintained

* Support the company's commitment to risk management and protecting the integrity and confidentiality of systems and data.

Minimum Qualifications

* Juris Doctor from accredited law school; admission to Arizona or other State bar

* Five+ years' in-house or law firm experience advising financial institutions or financial services/financial technology companies on compliance with consumer financial services laws and regulations

* Ability to learn new substantive areas of the law

* Ability to prioritize multiple projects and flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and changing organizational needs

* Ability to work proactively with various teams throughout the organization to achieve results while mitigating risk

* Strong presentation skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills

* Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills to build partnerships and alliances internally and with external partners at all levels of the organization

* Strong business acumen-the ability to be forward-thinking and innovative while understanding our business needs and limitations

* Highly effective working in a team environment

* Proactive self-starter

* Unyielding commitment to highest professional ethics

* Ability to maintain professional licensing and memberships in appropriate professional organizations

* Approved background and drug screen is required

Preferred Qualifications

* Strong familiarity with U.S. and international privacy laws

* Experience with the legal landscape regarding artificial intelligence

* Willingness to provide legal advice on new and emerging areas of law

* Additional related education and/or experience

Physical Requirements

Working conditions consist of a normal office environment. Work is primarily sedentary and requires extensive use of a computer and involves sitting for periods of approximately four hours. Work may require occasional standing, walking, kneeling, and reaching. Must be able to lift 10 pounds occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently. Requires visual acuity and dexterity to view, prepare, and manipulate documents and office equipment including personal computers.

Requires the ability to communicate with internal and/or external customers.

The base pay scale for this position in:

Phoenix, AZ/ Chicago, IL in USD per year is: $154,000 - $193,000.

New York, NY/ San Francisco, CA in USD per year is: $186,000 - $232,000.

Additionally, candidates are eligible for a discretionary incentive plan and benefits.
