Job Description



Job Summary :

Responsible for maintaining database systems including database back-ups, performance tuning, capacity planning, and monitoring critical events. Provides leadership during the development and enhancement of production applications. Works with application support, technical support and operations team members during the design, development and implementation of applications and documents the process. Collaborates with other core infrastructure teams, business units, and development teams to carry out key initiatives and projects.

Keeps current with technology while applying best practices utilizing tools to analyze, debug, and resolve database performance issues

Requirements

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assume ownership of all MS SQL Server performance tuning and maintenance
• Monitor SQL Server health, growth, and proactively manage enterprise data systems toward 100% uptime
• Provide day-to-day oversight and support of production databases, data warehouse/data marts
• Assist in design, development, implementation and maintenance of application systems (web and non-web)
• Extract, load and join data from multiple databases
• Administer SQL Server user accounts, roles and permissions
• Create, maintain and organize knowledge base of existing data systems documentation
• Produce ad-hoc SQL based reports in an on-demand environment
• Gather functional specifications and business requirements for new programming tasks including DTS packages, stored procedures, triggers etc.

• 5+ years of MSSQL database administration and development
• 3+ years of data analysis and reporting
• 2+Proficient in T-SQL, Stored Procedures, Triggers, Multidimensional Expressions (MDX), Cubes
• 3+ yrs Knowledge of Replication, DTS/SSIS, index management, and statistics
• 2+Experience in Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools
• 2 + yrs knowledge of relational database design
• 2 + yrs Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for MSSQL Server
• 2+Strong SSRS and Crystal Reports report writing experience
• 2+years’ Experience in implementing operational automation using scripts
• 2+Knowledge of computer security procedures and protocol
• 2+Demonstrated strong organizational, analytical, and problem solving skills.
