Work Shifts

8:00 A.M - 4:00 P.M

Duties & Responsibilities

Purpose:

Under general direction, with latitude for independent initiative and judgement, plans and directs the day-to-day operations of the client navigator environment. Interacts with clients, providing information, and explains applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Performs related tasks.

Examples of Typical Tasks:
1. Greets clients and identifies services required to facilitate their flow throughout the health care setting.
2. Directs clients to appropriate personnel or area.
3. Monitors the entrance and lobby to facilitate client flow throughout the health care setting.
4. Provides clear and accurate answers to questions regarding services provided at the health care setting.
5. Maintains a directory of interpreters, departments, local transportations and community services available at the health care setting.
6. Maintains wheel chair availability at all times.
7. Reports client concerns to the appropriate department. Relays information and messages to appropriate personnel.
8. Maintains coverage of assigned work area at all times.
9. Maintains client confidentiality.
10. Maintains records.
11. Supervises, plans, coordinates, monitors and trains staff.
12. Troubleshoots concerns with clients, traffic flows and computers.
13. Prepares reports, analyze data and recommends changes to enhance client relations and flow of traffic within the health care setting.
14. Assists in the development and distribution of informational materials.
15. Maintains listings of events, meetings and workshops.
16. May distribute visitor passes and answer questions regarding patients' status in accordance with policies and procedures established by the health care setting.
17. May explain policies and procedures to clients.
18. May retrieve information from computer system or staff.
19. May file, type, use personnel computers, and answer phones.
20. May escort clients.
21. May provide interpreting services for clients with visual, auditory or limited English proficiency needs.
22. May be responsible for updating the Admission, Discharge and Transfer (ADT) Report and the Alpha-In-House Census.
23. May review client information for accuracy.
24. May collect, evaluate and prepare reports.

Minimum Qualifications
1. High school diploma or its educational equivalent, approved by a State's Department of Education or a recognized accrediting organization; and
2. Two (2) years of full-time customer service experience; one (1) year of which must have been in an administrative and/or supervisory capacity.

Department Preferences

• Competence in Epic Cadence, Omnipro, EPACES, insurance portals and Q-med (review MD history) functions is necessary.

• Exceptional customer service skills required.

• Good organizational and time management skills required.
