Spanish Bilingual Intake Counselor

Hours: 6:30am - 2:30pm

Pay Rate: $21.97-$30.21 per hour

Organization: A nationally recognized comprehensive Health and Human Services Agency with over 60 programs across New York City and the greater New York Area.

The Intake Counselor will provide screening and intake services to program applicants, develop preliminary eligibility determinations, and facilitate the admissions process. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with agency policies, providing coverage and assistance to staff, and maintaining a small caseload.

• Conduct screening and intake interviews to assess program appropriateness.
• Determine level of care recommendations for supervisory review.
• Document all contacts and screenings in the electronic database.
• Complete and process all required documentation per agency policy.
• Provide crisis or community-based referrals as needed.
• Follow-up with applicants on the eligibility/wait list to facilitate admissions and referrals.
• Analyze monthly admissions data regarding census and referral sources.
• Conduct outreach, educational services, and therapeutic groups related to chemical dependency.
• Act as liaison/advocate for patients’ families, legal authorities, and community agencies.

• High School Diploma or GED
• OASAS CASAC-T or CASAC Certification
• At least one year experience in substance use screenings or counseling, preferably in a Medication Assisted Program
• Knowledge of community social resources
• Ability to articulate eligibility criteria and treatment continuum
• Experience with co-occurring disorders and understanding of Client Rights and Code of Ethics
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and EHR
• Experience working with diverse populations
