Position SummaryThis position requires the Dietary Aide to prepare and serve high quality food for hospital patients, employees, and visitors. The Dietary Aide must follow all policies and procedures of the department and hospital with an emphasis on infection control, safety, and sanitation, and adhere to the daily work schedule.
Job Duties- Assemble and deliver patient meal trays.
- Transport food carts and equipment safely throughout the hospital as required.
- Operate and clean equipment per departmental procedures.
- Safely transport garbage and recyclable material to assigned areas.
- Accurately portion and serve food for patients quickly and with minimum waste, in accordance with departmental procedures.
- Accurately inventory and deliver par stock supplies to identified units and clean per departmental procedures.
- Complete food temperature control logs as per established protocol.
- Maintain order and cleanliness.
- Cooperate with all personnel in the proper conduct of the department.
- Rotate within the department and by shift as required.
- Adhere to hospital and departmental rules and regulations.
- Participate in in-service programs.
- Perform all other related duties as assigned by management.
- Food manager safety certificate from Suffolk County Department of Health or valid equivalent issued within the last 3 years.
- Two (2) years’ experience in healthcare food service preferred.
- Ability to read/write instructions and orally read.
- Ability to use a step ladder.
- Ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds.
- Sufficient mobility and dexterity of both arms to safely operate equipment, utensils, and retrieve stock inventory items.
- Ability to work in hot and cold environments.
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
Part‑time, Day Shift, 5:30 am‑1:30 pm or 10:30 am‑6:30 pm, weekends as needed.
LocationNutritional Services, Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital.
Pre‑Employment Requirements- Successfully complete a pre‑employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance.
- Complete an electronic reference check with a minimum of three (3) professional references.
- Successfully complete a 4‑panel drug screen.
- Meet regulatory pre‑employment screening requirements.
- Provide any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).
The starting salary range for this position has been established based on relevant experience. The above salary range represents SBELIH’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
