Position Summary
The Dietary Aide is responsible for assisting in the preparation, serving, and delivery of meals to residents in accordance with established policies, regulations, and resident care standards. This role supports the overall health and well-being of residents by ensuring meals are nutritious, appealing, and served in a safe and sanitary manner.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with meal preparation and portioning according to menus and resident dietary needs.
- Set up dining areas, including table settings and meal trays, ensuring cleanliness and organization.
- Serve meals and beverages to residents in the dining room and deliver trays to resident rooms as needed.
- Follow therapeutic and modified diet guidelines as directed by the Dietary Supervisor and clinical team.
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen, dining areas, and food service equipment in compliance with DOH and facility standards.
- Wash dishes, utensils, and food service equipment promptly after use.
- Assist in receiving, unpacking, and storing food supplies while ensuring proper rotation (FIFO).
- Adhere to all infection control, sanitation, and food safety regulations.
- Report any concerns regarding resident food intake, appetite, or special requests to the Dietary Supervisor.
- Provide respectful and friendly service to residents, supporting a positive dining experience.
- Participate in ongoing training and staff meetings as required.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in food service or healthcare setting preferred, but not required.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions in English.
- Knowledge of safe food handling, sanitation, and infection control practices.
- Compassionate, patient, and professional demeanor when working with elderly residents.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move continuously during shift.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and carry food trays, supplies, and equipment.
- Ability to bend, stoop, and reach as necessary during food preparation and cleaning tasks.
- Full-time or part-time, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
