FLEXSTAFF - PHARMACIST

POSITION SUMMARY

Interprets, compounds and dispenses medications and other pharmaceutical supplies using standard physical and chemical procedures to fill written prescriptions issued by physicians and other qualified prescribers. Enters drug orders into computer profile.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Interpret and enter drug orders and patient data into computer profile. Select, prepare, and dispense drug products to fill inpatient and outpatient prescriptions. Label drug products as per procedure.
• Dispense employee prescriptions, initiate profile system, and provide drug information.
• Interact with health care personnel to provide information on drug action or delivery of various medications. Provide compatibility information for IV administration of various drugs.
• Screen for drug allergy and drug interactions. Note drugs or classes of drugs contraindicated in specific disease states. Conduct pre‑admission and discharge patient medication interviews upon request.
• Review patient charts and nursing medication‑charting documents for accuracy and completeness to maintain accurate patient profile. Ensure drugs are reordered as per hospital policy and procedure.
• Maintain records and inventory of investigation drugs, controlled substances, and methadone. Maintain records of transactions and delivery.
• Manufacture, prepare, and label compound and solutions, and other sterile products.
• Perform related duties, as required.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy including internship, required. Pharm
  
  D, preferred.
• Must possess current license to practice Pharmacy in New York State.
• Minimum of one (1) year related experience to ensure familiarity with hospital pharmacy practice, preferred.
